What TPD setting does my watch need?

Most automatic watches need between 650 and 1,800 turns per day, and the exact figure depends on the movement. Check our TPD database of more than 4,900 models or the settings index to find the precise TPD and direction for your watch, then programme the winder to match.

Should my winder turn clockwise, anti-clockwise or both?

It depends on the movement: some wind in one direction only, and many wind in both. Our TPD database lists the correct direction for each model, and every winder we sell offers clockwise, anti-clockwise and bidirectional programmes.

Can a watch winder overwind or damage my watch?

No. Modern automatic movements have a slipping mainspring that makes over-winding impossible. Set the correct TPD and your watch stays wound, accurate and ready to wear without any risk of damage.

How many watches should my winder hold?

Match the winder to the number of automatic watches in your rotation: single, double, four and six-watch units are the popular sizes. Each watch sits on its own independently controlled module, and choosing one spare slot saves upgrading later.

What happens if my winder develops a fault?

Every winder includes a 3-year warranty, and we repair Tempus and Aevitas winders in-house in the UK — including out-of-warranty repairs — so a failed motor or belt rarely means replacing the whole unit.
